Suella Braverman: Britain will be a third-world country if Labour stays in power

7 de noviembre de 2026 · 52m

In Saturday’s special episode of The Daily T, Camilla Tominey and Tim Stanley are joined by Reform UK MP and former home secretary Suella Braverman, who gives a stark warning that if Labour wins the next election “we’ll become a third world country”. She says that adding another five years of a Labour government “will mean higher taxes, more poverty for hardworking Brits, more immigration, less security”.

They discuss Andy Burnham’s “inclusive and good faith” talks on the harms of the transatlantic slave trade, as Suella warns that “talks might look harmless, but they are anything but”. She points out that this is how the Chagos deal began, adding “you are opening a Pandora’s box and it is very reckless. It’s very dangerous”.

Tim and Camilla ask Ms Braverman about her appearance on BBC Question Time where she drew attention for saying that she was British but not English. She is critical of the reaction, explaining that they “call you racist when you want to talk about how you describe yourself”.

Suella asserts that there is a “crisis of patriotism” in schools and wider society, saying “there’s an increasing number of our young people who believe that Britain is a racist country”.
