Trump in midterm turmoil: Is Maga dead?
4 de noviembre de 2026 · 20m
In Wednesday’s episode of The Daily T, Camilla Tominey and Tim Stanley react to an awful night at the US polls for Donald Trump and the Republican Party. They discuss the loss of both the House of Representatives and the Senate, who was to blame and why the defeats were so convincing.
Tim suggests it is the president who should shoulder the majority of the blame, saying: “Trump lost because he betrayed Maga. If he was elected to do one thing, it was to stay out of foreign wars.” They also examine how the Republicans’ aggressive campaign tactics appeared to backfire on several fronts, suggesting voters are tiring of attack-led politics and personal assaults on opponents.
Camilla and Tim also examine the lack of clear leadership in both the Republican and Democratic parties, with neither having an obvious standard-bearer before the 2028 presidential election.
