Stage 3 ABANDONED! Vuelta a España Stage 3 Breakdown

24 de agosto de 2026 · 34m

The Vuelta heads into the mountains, but Stage 3 ends in extraordinary circumstances. The 174km route from Gruissan to Font-Romeu was set to provide the first real mountain test of the race, with the riders finishing at almost 2,000 metres above sea level. Instead, a brutal hailstorm on the final climb forces the race to be neutralised before the decision is eventually made to cancel the stage altogether. We get into the chaotic scenes as the weather closes in, riders are forced to take shelter and Tadej Pogačar plays a key role in bringing the racing to a halt. And our very own David Millar has his own story to tell, having cycled through the hailstorm to get to the race and watch the riders go by, only to get caught right in the middle of the chaos himself. Ned Boulting and Pete Kennaugh break down Stage 3 of the Vuelta. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
